The Artists
[toggles class=”yourcustomclass”][toggle title=”Cody Wilder, IAM Local 735, unioNation™ Co-Chair and inspiration of unioNation”]Mother and Daddy gave me my first guitar at age 5 and from my earliest memory knew my life would revolve around music. My musical influences include Bob Seger, Ray Charles, Joe Cocker, and Elvis Presley. Over the years I have performed throughout the United States from Atlantic City to Las Vegas. While appearing at the Dunes in Las Vegas, I was surprised when Dean Martin’s Golddiggers joined me onstage. (Remember…”What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”) I recorded “Illinois Central Line “on a compilation CD titled, “Christmas Across America,” each state having its own Christmas song. I have recorded several jingles for radio and television winning a Gold Addy Award. I also sang the theme song for “Super Driver,” an audio magazine for truck drivers all across America, selling over a million copies. My original music has reached both the European and Australian markets with 4 songs hitting # 1 on playlist. I live in Nashville, TN. where I continue to write and perform.

[/toggle] [toggle title=”A. Michael Martinez, IAM Local 794″]A.Michael Martinez Biography
Local Lodge 794 in Albuquerque, New Mexico
Area Steward for ten years

I recorded my first major label L.P. in 1970 on Mainstream Records called “Drive It” with my group Lincoln St. Exit. This was the first label Janis Joplin was on.

In 1971, I recorded at the Hitsville Studio in Detroit for Rare Earth Records, a subsidiary label from Motown, an album entitled “Plight of the Red Man”. We changed our name to XIT.

This album was a history of the American Indian and became an anthem for the American Indian Movement. I sang all the vocals and played guitar on the album.

I was fortunate to meet some of  Motowns legendary artists, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and Mary Wells, also the legendary producer, Norman Whitfield, who produced my vocal session.

As a performer I shared the stage with many artists of the time: Three Dog Night , Joe Cocker, Leon Russell, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Steve Martin, Redbone, Chief Dan George,

The Beach Boys, Grand Funk Railroad, ZZ Top, Rare Earth, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Black Oak Arkansas, Crow, And Floyd Red Crow Westerman.

In 1999 I was awarded a “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Native American Music Awards. In 2010, I was nominated for Best Native Contemporary for “I am Happy About You” at the New Mexico Music Awards from my CD “neXt eXit” and Best Producer. In 2010 I had four songs in a movie called “Pete and Cleo” a Holt-Hamilton production. In 2011, also from the Native American Music Awards, I received an award for my participation in Jan Michael Lookingwolf’s video “Live as One”.

In 2012, I had two songs nominated “The Ballad of Chili Yazzie” for Best Native and “Fire Dance” at the New Mexico Music Awards. I also had “Song of Freedom” selected for Rock the Vote for a video to solicit Native youth to register to vote for the 2012 National Elections.

In 2012 I had the very special opportunity to become one of “unioNation™” founding members. Initially I played a song of mine from my “Factory” CD , “Who’s an American?”.  “Who’s an American?” was nominated for Best Song at the 2013 New Mexico Music Awards. Since my being with “unioNation™” I have had an amazing journey, playing music with all talents from around the U.S. and Canada. We shared the stage at the 2012 IAMAW Grand Lodge Convention in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  Some of us also played the 125 Atlanta IAMAW

Celebration in 2013. The major highlight is, we all got back together to record our first CD in Maryland the summer of 2013. I contributed two songs, ”A Woman’s Place” which I wrote and had Lisa Hyde sing the lead vocal and “unioNation™” a dedication to our great and wonderful union, which I also wrote. I am eternally grateful to Henry Bagwell and Cody Wilder for all their hard work and persistence to make this all happen. May “unioNation” live on forever.
